Bramlage Coliseum was built as a multi-purpose facility to be used for more than just basketball games. To achieve this, a removable gym floor was installed. During concerts, Landon Lectures, or the annual All-University Career Fair, the basketball floor is removed and stored. Events, such as these, occurring during the season force the basketball teams to find alternative locations to practice.
Even when practicing in Bramlage Coliseum, training is limited. Because the floor of Bramlage is large enough for just one court, only the two primary goals can be used. This fact restricts the team’s ability to have multiple drills taking place at once. Free throw or three-point shooting is also limited to two goals.
The centerpiece of the basketball training facility, the practice gym will provide the K-State basketball teams with the ability to train at multiple stations using up to six goals on two gym floors.
